“I wanted to make a little bit of money.” It’s a common phrase we hear from people on why they started their Taco Bell career journey. But Area Coach (AC) Jacob Lozir, like many in the MRCO fold, had staying power (like Robert and Saresa).
Jacob joined us as a team member at Taco Bell in high school, when he was just 16 years old, and quickly noticed the MRCO difference. “They really made you feel at home,” he shares. “They cared about how you did and how you progressed.” For his part, Jacob soon progressed to the Shift Lead position, where he stayed for two and a half years.
“This is not a job where you stay in the same position the whole time if you don’t want to. You can definitely move up,” he stresses. And move up he did!
THE“O” STANDS FOR OPPORTUNITY
Jacob saw opportunity in MRCO, and the feeling was mutual. “They’re all about growth,” Jacob says. Next up was the Assistant General Manager (AGM) position for this driven young man. “It goes from job to career pretty quick whenever you really apply yourself,” he says.
Jacob acknowledges it’s not always easy transferring to a new restaurant location, but says he had a lot of support from his superiors and learned from the experience. “I think that it teaches you perspective and lets you grow even more,” he says.
Aside from support and a family environment, Jacob also touts the many benefits available to qualifying team members: access to insurance, daily pay, 401(k) matching and free meals during shifts, to name a few.
“Anytime you’re in a bad position, they’re gonna do whatever they can to make sure you’re taken care of,” Jacob says. “In return, I give them my all as well.”
GROWTH MINDSET
After roughly one and half years in the AGM role, opportunity knocked again, and Jacob interviewed for, and was offered, the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) job. That’s promotion No. 3 for those keeping track at home! “I worked hard … that’s what led me to where I am today,” he says.
Now, Jacob is an AC. At this level of leadership, Jacob oversees six different Taco Bell restaurants
where he supports day-to-day operations. He views it as his job to make sure his teams have everything they need to succeed. “I can understand what they’re going through because I was in those shoes too,” he says.
Jacob’s favorite part of the job is, making sure people can reach their full potential, he says. Together, Jacob assures, they can tackle any obstacle and get the job done.
It’s clear that Jacob is a five year plan type of guy. He shares that he’s content to stay in the AC role. However, “If an opportunity arises for me to move up the ladder some more, absolutely. I’d love the responsibility to take on that challenge,” he says. Now that’s the MRCO spirit!
