MRCO recently replaced its previous tuition assistance program with Instride, according to Chief People Officer Shab Aminmadani. She says team member interest was immediate! Today, we celebrate our first handful of Tacos and Tuition enrollments.

So far, MRCO program participants have explored interior design, grant writing, accounting and medical classes. Naturally, we set out to find out how it’s going.
Where Passion Meets Opportunity
Tacos and Tuition offers access to more than 3,000 flexible online programs and courses from academic institutions around the country. That’s thousands of opportunities at your fingertips!
It didn’t take long for Lead General Manager Samantha Bennett (of McDonough, GA) to take advantage of the opportunity. Samantha enrolled in an Accounting Fundamentals class, where she’s learning about payroll and balancing the books.
“Math has always been my passion,” she shares. We’ve learned it’s Samantha’s personal aspiration to learn how to do her own taxes that prompted her to enroll! She is very appreciative of the opportunity to enhance her education.

“In some cases, they’ll take a leadership class or finance class to help them prepare for a future role with us,” Shab says about enrollees from MRCO. “In other cases, they will take a class that aligns with their interests and possibly a career away from us. Whatever the case, they’ll be happier and more fulfilled — and that benefits workplace culture.”
Easy, Breezy Signup Process
The feedback we’ve received so far indicates that it’s not hard to sign up for Tacos and Tuition and get enrolled in the class(es) of your choice. Both Samantha and Assistant General Manager (AGM) Enrique Mujica, also a current working student, confirmed that they ran into no obstacles in the process.
“It was a fast and easy application; communication was quick,” Enrique shares. “Also, within two to three days after signing up, I began classes.”
Enrique is AGM at our Beaver Dam, KY Taco Bell. He says he’s taking advantage of Tacos and Tuition to explore the medical field, where he’s worked as a patient translator in the past.
“I want to advance my knowledge and explore opportunities working with medical staff, and enjoy helping others [with] their care,” he says. “I am currently taking Medical Terminology for the spring and in the fall, I will be taking the Medical Assistant class.”
Enrique says his goal is to slowly ease into the medical field. The flexibility of Tacos and Tuition helps him move forward — but at his own pace.
So to those who might be nervous about juggling school and work, let us squash those doubts!
“There are several self-paced options and everything is based online, cutting out any time spent commuting to class,” Shab shares. Also, you can sign up for just one course at a time. Another practical option? Shab suggests looking for a time management course!
